Original Question I imported an existing shape file to a personal geodatabase and added domains. All of the previous data in the fields that I added domains to was lost. Has anyone else found this problem too? if so is there a way to add a domain without losing all existing data in your personal geodatabase? Also is there a way to import a field from another table and use those values as domain values, so you do not have to retype all the info again? Will SUM. SUM I only got one response- when the domain is removed from the field the values appear again. Thank you Dan. So I looked at the database that is created when you create a Geodatabase and found that the old values are stored in an access database. I also found that when you use domain values the data will not disappear if the domain values match EXACTLY with existing values. Since the database that is created is in access, is their any way to import values from another table and use those values as domain values, it does not seem to create a table of domain values. is their anyway to make one that the goedatabase will recognize as a domain list. there seems to be some tables that relate to domains. if so you could run a unique query on your desired field and import the list to a domain table and use that to populate the disappearing values. does anyone have any ideas on how this can be done? or a good source of finding out more information about the access table that is created?
